How to Choose A Noseband
NOSEBANDS EXPLAINED
Converter Nosebands
Our Converter nosebands allow you to completely remove the flash strap and tag to give you a cavesson look.
Hanoverian Nosebands
Our Hanoverian nosebands allow you to remove the flash but still retains the small tab. They are for people who ride often with flash straps and prefer the more refined look of the smaller tab.
Double Buckle Nosebands
All of our nosebands have a buckle on each side. This allows for a more even and adaptable fit.
*Please note that if you are purchasing just a noseband for a non Flexible Fit bridle, you may need to purchase a noseband adapter if your current bridle is not a monocrown headpiece. We sell these separately.
Anatomical Nosebands
These nosebands are designed for the most even distribution of pressure possible. Wider at the front, they taper at the sides to avoid the nerve endings on the side of the face. The higher clearance also gives greater clearance for the bit.
Grackle/Mexican/Figure 8 Nosebands
These nosebands are a cross over with a central moveable pad to allow for greater adaptable fit. Grackle nosebands are designed to stop your horse from crossing their jaw.
Drop Nosebands
Known as a drop and in some countries a Hanoverian, these nosebands are very popular with people with young horses. They encourage the horse to close its mouth without force. When they open their mouth it applies slight pressure and when the mouth is close it removes any form of pressure.
Eventer Nosebands
These have a single buckle connection. We have two styles. One with a pad for more even padding and one in a traditional one padded side.
Crank/Swedish Nosebands
These have a strap that levers back in itself as well as a pad for more even pressure relief. Whilst crank nosebands have been given a bad reputation, they do offer a more distribution of pressure and the tightness is in the hands of the person doing the noseband up. They can be and should be loosely fitted.
